Governor Polis Orders School Closure Extension through April 17 Dear Jeffco Public Schools community, To help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Colorado, on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Governor Jared Polis ordered that all public and private schools across the state suspend in-person learning from March 23 to April 17. The Governor made this order via press release this afternoon. Jeffco Public Schools initiated its Remote Learning and Work Plan on March 16 and will continue with this program until April 17, with a one-week hiatus for the district’s spring break scheduled for March 23 - 27. In addition, the district will continue to provide Grab & Go food services to students throughout the same period. Any student can receive breakfast and lunch. Jeffco Public Schools will provide regular updates to the community during the closure of its school buildings. All employees will continue to be paid. The district office operations have transitioned to a remote work plan for those employees whose roles enable them to work from home. All employees have been instructed to practice “social distancing” and other CDC-recommended hygiene practices to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We know that this information brings both certainty and uncertainty for the weeks ahead. We’d ask that we allow each other a measure of grace, as we develop plans for what school looks like in the weeks ahead. Now, more than ever, we must work together for the benefit of our children and our community. We thank you for being patient as we navigate this new reality. Jeffco Public Schools |
